Feb. 17: Green Burial Options in New Mexico

February 17 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Wicker Casket in Nature

In New Mexico’s high desert climate, “green” burial is actually “brown” burial. However, you have many options to minimize your after-death carbon footprint. Make your final disposition more eco-friendly by avoiding embalming, rethinking cremation, choosing biodegradable caskets and urns, and even considering holding a home/DIY funeral.

Come learn about your options for returning to the earth as naturally as possible in the Land of Enchantment. “Green Burial Options in New Mexico” is the title of Gail Rubin’s presentation on Saturday, February 17 at 2:00 p.m. The talk takes place at the Rio Grande Nature Center State Park Education Center, 2901 Candelaria Road NW, Albuquerque, NM. The event is free. There’s a $3 Day-Use Fee per vehicle if you use the park’s parking lot. The fee can be avoided by parking on Candelaria and walking a little way to the center.
